Wanderlust: Iceland
Wanderlust: Iceland is a yearlong reflection of how a once sleepy little village has been flooded by visitors. I embraced the beauty of the landscape and quaint homes, while grappling with the impact tourism has had on the country. While speculating on daily life in Reykjavik, the capital and largest city, I was confronted with the realization that the entire city was consumed with the tourism industry. Its cultural identity was being over shadowed by a need to cater to its visitors. Development brought benefits but also negatives like rising costs and need to maintain new infrastructure. What will happen if and when this bubble bursts?
