Jasmine’s work represents love on many levels. At its very core, it is a love of moving color across canvas and the visual language that it creates. She works with imagery that represents her love and appreciation for both mundane routine and curiosity; covering topics of everyday foods and furniture, travel, city living, and music. Most recently she has been creating images of the members of her muay Thai gym. Jasmine has trained at combat sports gyms from Portland Oregon to Belgrade Serbia and has experienced a true sense of love from every member, coach, and gym she has visited. In these sports that involve so much potential for injury, you must exercise trust and respect for yourself and your partner. She approaches painting with the same heart full of love, respect, and discipline she has found within the people who do the hard work and commit themselves to being competitive fighters. This series is a love letter to those fighters who welcome artists like Jasmine into their sacred spaces and train with the everyday enthusiasts like her.
